Its a must for you guys, get your name out there to the people that will use you. Check out my blog, and also my website. Much love Ian B www.alpujarracortijo.com

sorry to have to moan but I think people may be inclined to use the site a little more if it actually worked. I have registered (several times now) in order to read one news item and still cannot access it, I continually get asked to register. This as you may well understand is insanely frustrating. please fix! i'll try one more time but I belong to the spoon-fed internet society where if i dont get instantaneous results i'll go eslewhere - sad but true.

Hi Louie, Sorry to hear you are having problems, I must admit, when I first started using the site it was not as user friendly as I would like it to be. This may seem like a cop out, but the site is not something I have any control over, I just do a little writing for it now and again. When I was having problems I contacted the owners via the contact tab and they have been very helpful. I am now used to the system so its no big deal for me. I think if we can encourage more people to use the site and also contact the owners and give them constructive critism they will put more time into making it more user friendly. Please persevere and drop them a line for registration info. Regards Ian B www.alpujarracortijo.com

Hi PIP,Welcome. You don't say what sort of place you are looking at in Valor, is it in or near the town, or out in the campo? In town, mains electric is fairly readily available. Out in the campo, it is sometimes harder to get but it can still be available. We thought about mains for our place, as it is over the next hill, but it would mean having some very ugly pylons spoiling the currently beautiful view. It can be laid below ground but I have been told that this can make something that is already expensive even more so. We are opting for solar, possibly wind with a generator for back up and items which drain the power quicker, eg power tools and hair dryers!!! We hope to have both photo voltaic and vacuum for both electric and water heating. I have not researched fully so cannot guarantee this as fact, but I have been advised that solar from countries like Germany/Scandinavia tend to be more efficient than the homegrown Spanish variety as they are manufactured for much lower light conditions. It may be worth some personal research. It is all very dependant on how "ECO" you want to be I suppose. For heating the norm is some kind of wood/shell burner and research I have done tells me that wood burners are the most efficient and eco friendly you can use, in some cases as much as 87% fuel efficient!!! Anyway, hope some of this helps and I wish you success in finding a cosy little casa (Cortijo is the correct spelling by the way, you were right!)
Much love
