The controversial Almuñécar Aquarium will end 2008 with a breathtaking total of more than 40,000 visitors since its opening in July, with hopes that 2009 will top this number.
Most visitors have been recorded as coming from Granada and throughout
Andalusia, although there has been a growing number of German, French
and English visitors. The foreign contingent have obviously been
affected by the world economy, as well as the change in currency
strength in the case of the British.

Open over 90 years ago, the Órgiva office for the transport company ALSA (used to be Alsina Graells) is now under threat to be shut down on January 1st. More than 100 people turned up with placards to protest peacefully against the closure of this office, as it has served locals so well as a daily public means of transport.

More than 20,000 signatures were collected in a petition organised by the Municipal Council for the Disabled together with 27 associations. However, it seems that the ‘Junta’ believes that people requiring specialists in Neurology, Nephrology, Endocrinology and Rheumatology, should be subject to long waiting queues.
