What are the laws regarding gun ownership for those of us moving to Spain. I would like to do some hunting and target shooting eventually, once I have a non crumbling roof over my head. Is it easy to have firearms? Is it even possible for "extrajaneros"?

hi, we have a house near the Lecrin and Alpujarras and often go fishing at the local lakes. We throw back what we catch but others often take their catches home to eat. When we came back from our last trip, our spanish elderly neighbour told us off and said that we must have a licence to fish and we could be fined by the local police who check licences. Apparently you now have to go to the town hall and then to a particular bank to pay for your licence. I really do not know more than that. It is a shame though as our boys love to fish and we sre dubious about going now as we have been told it is complicated to get the licence.

Also, gun shots can be heard all around us some evenings, the locals shooting their dinner. I will ask them when I next go about the gun licence for you but I do believe you are supposed to have one although I bet many Spaniards do not.

sorry I couldn't be more help.
