Town Hall plans works on Avenida de Salobreña |

Monday, 05 January 2009 |
As part of an anti-crisis defensive, the Motríl Town Hall has promised to start work on the main road into the town in March. The idea is to create 40 jobs and facilitate the flow of traffic into the centre, particularly for public transport.
Motríl’s path to becoming a city
An essential ingredient to Motríl evolving into a proper city includes the improvement of infrastructure, not least of which is the major artery into the town, Avenida de Salobreña, which seems more choked than ever. Thanks to 10.3 million Euros passed down from Central Government, the road is to set to have everything, down to the last pavement tile, updated and set right. Traffic lights and parking will be abolished and all the streetlighting and pedestrian areas will be newly installed. Some time in the future (obviously this date hasn’t been promised yet!) there are even plans to include a tram, in addition to the cycle paths and special public transport lanes. Meanwhile, residents and visitors will be using detours around the centre, with no commitment as to date of completion. Patience, people!
