Hello all

My LinX were working but now I cannot see them when I link to the component from the home page. Have a look at my site and click on links menu item.

There are links published in several categories.

The only change I have made to my site is to upgrade Joomla. Does LinX work with latest version of Joomla?

Hi There,

Sorry for the late reply - but seing that I am the only one doing any support here, and the fact that I was on vacation - it will take some time.

LinX works fine with Joomla 1.0.10 I can't see what is wrong with LinX. Does teh admin behave normally?

Hello CT

Linx is behaving normally at the back-end, the problem seems to be in the front-end. If you go to the links exchange on my site, you will notice that each of the categories is empty. In fact they are not empty. Most have at least one entry.

This was all working fine until I upgraded to latest version of Joomla then I lost links.

The backend shows all as published and most as reciprocating.

Thanks

I have no idea why this would be. I suggest reinstalling. But backup your links from the database first!

I think I know what the problem is, as from Joomla 1.0.11 they adwise users to turn of the register globals=on emulation in globals.php file. So far even if you had register globals=off on your server, there was emulation in globals.php. If you turn it off there, then some components might not work and I think Linx is one of them -> you cant open categories in the frontend.

Hope this helps in sorting things out. Great component otherwise!!

Hello Boilers

You've got it!!! I did change the global config.php setting to 0 (from 1) on all my sites.

I did this as it was highly recommended on a website where Joomla administrators were all complaining of being hacked. I can't find that original site but did find the following:
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php?topic=75768.msg430664
and this one http://blog.phil-taylor.com/ and see thewatchers comments on http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,76243.0.html and finally http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,86525.0.html

If Linx only works with globals register on then it exposes the site to security risks. Is there a way of fixing this?

Thanks

Right, I think I might have found the culprit.

Please download: http://www.costatropicalinternet.com/downloads/linx/linx.zip this contains the linx.php file that you need to use to overwrite in the /components/com_linx/ folder.

I have also updated the main package with this bug fix.

Please let me know if it works or not as I do not have time to test myself.

Hello

Now I am unable to exchange links! Link partners cannot verift their links even though they are publiahed and correct. I am unable to add new links in the Joomla back-end; I receive 3 error messages saying that I need to enter data into the fields (even though I have done so correctly).

Any ideas?

Yeah, this too is an error where the component requires you to run with safemode = on.

I need to go through the whole component and make it safe mode = off compatible. Unfortunentely I am very busy so I do not get alot of time to work on LinX.

Please find the time to update this component. It is a great component and piece of work. There is nothing else out there like it. I appreciate your work on this to date. I have this installed on a Mambo Site and the most recent fix didn't solve the thumbnail problem on the Mambo site.
