No sorry I didn't get your reply. I have now found a drummer for my band and we're practicing as a three piece at the moment. It's been a long and difficult process finding reliable people but hopefully, after eight months of searching and hard work we have a good line up and playlist. I will keep your details from this forum as it's always a good idea to keep in touch with other musicians in the area should my situation change in the future. And I'm keen to hear how it's going for you with regard to getting your band up and running. As I said, I've found the process has been very difficult here but I'm confident that there are plenty of gigs to be had and I'm hopeful of being all booked up for next year. So best of luck with it all.

Sorry I must have done something totally wrong when replying previously!!! My reply is paisted below. Glad to hear you are sorted with a drummer and things are picking up for you. I haven't got any further forward as I won't be permanent in Spain until next year. However, please keep my details should your drummer need a dep or you need a new one!!

In relation to bookings, I have not seen/heard any bands around the Albunol/La Rabita area, which will be my target area. So why not see whats what around there? There is an Irish bar (although all Spaniards within) in Albunol with what appears to be a small stage/performing area. You may just open some musical flood gates!! Best of luck and keep in touch.

Thanks for getting in touch. I have only just received you post as I have been in Spain all last week. You sound very interesting to me and rock/blues covers is right up my street. I am currently gigging with 2 bands in UK and will be moving to Spain permanently in April 09. I have put out feelers early to gauge what/who may be out there. Where abouts are you in the mountains? I will be back in Spain for 2 weeks from 02/09/08 and perhaps a meet may be possible? Please let me know you thoughts.

Thanks. I will keep in touch. I might check out the bar in Albuñol that you mentioned. I'll let you know if we do a gig there! And I'll bear you in mind if we ever need another drummer or if I hear of anyone else who is for the future. I've been cutting my teeth at Bar de Musica in Cadiar (down an alley opposite Bar Central) for the last few months as they have a jam night there on Tuesdays that they're trying to promote. They are now also putting on live bands at the weekends. I haven't jammed there for a few weeks as I'm pushing more for a paid gig there now. It looks as though they are starting to succeed gradually with building up the music stuff so it's one you might want to look at in the future.

I'm back again searching for a new bass player. Unfortunately our current bassist is having to leave us for personal reasons and we will be very sorry to lose him. We have been working hard to get bookings and things are looking promising for the summer. So far we've had a very good response to our gigs and we have every reason to be very optimistic for the future. Except that without a bassist we can't continue! To recap: we are 'Las Alturas', we play a wide variety of well known rock/pop/blues covers in the Granada/Almería area. We normally practice near Loja but I am based in the Alpujarras so we have options.
