Science experts from all over Eastern Andalusia have set to work every Saturday with the genius element of tomorrow. To be precise, fifty talented mathematic students are undertaking training at the Faculty of Science in the University of Granada, through a project called Estalmat (Stimulation of Maths Talent) in 12 year old children who have been selected through the last maths exams they took during their final year in primary school.

Amongst the thousand students who apply for this course throughout Andalusia, 50 are chosen from the Eastern area and another 50 (given the opportunity to study in Seville) are chosen from the Western area of the region. Along the same lines as similar courses offered at Stanford and Cambridge, the idea is to take children with obvious Mathematical talent and attempt to develop their logic and skills from a young age. Amongst them, doubtless, we’re likely to discover at least one genius and more importantly, as commented the University of Granada’s Professor of Algebra Pascual Jara, keep the Maths and Science faculties of tomorrow alive and growing.
