Tuesday, 30 December 2008 |
In an operation conducted by the National Police, some 200 people have been charged in Granada with allegedly defrauding the Social Security Department. The investigation was started one year ago with a denouncement at INEM (National Institute of Employment) in Granada.
Businessmen and workers
Both business people and workers have been implicated in this investigation, without any of the charged individuals being detained in cells. It turns out, according to the investigating body, that the ‘scam’ was part of a seriously well-organised network of considerable size. What has been confirmed was that the criminals had set up illegal contracts in order to claim benefits from the Social Security Department. It’s still uncertain as to how much money is involved.
