Telefonica clients within ten towns along the Costa Tropical spent most of the 22nd of October unable to use their mobiles or gain internet access. The towns remaining incomunicados included Motríl, Almuñécar, La Herradura, Salobreña, Otívar, Torrenueva, La Rábita, Albuñol, Gualchos and Albondón; all unable to reach anything other than emergency services.
All down to damaged optic fibres because of a breakage in underground pipes over in Almería, an emergency crew were sent out to make the necessary repairs. Happily for us, mobiles and computers were back up and running after virtually an entire working day (well, Telefonica said only 6 hours, but hey, their working days might be shorter, right?)
