Noche Buena which translates as Good Night is the Spanish celebration of Christmas Eve. Certainly around the Costa Tropical towns and villages you could be forgiven for thinking that they have suddenly turned into ghost towns. Contrary to English traditions of 'going out' on this night most of the bars and restaurants are closed in favour of family feasts held at home. The meals will often consist of many courses eaten over a few hours. Whilst many families round off the evening at midnight mass, many choose to delay their meal until they have paid homage to the infant Jesus. They will then spend the 'Good Night' eating, drinking and making merry to the early hours.
