Ugíjar
Ugijar is one of the main/largest of the Alpujarran villages with everything available that you could possibly need. There is a large excellent medical centre, modern new pharmacy, vets, lots of shops, supermarkets, a large important church, museum, schools, historic buildings, plus plenty of friendly bars and restuarants with excellent tapas and good value food. There are many lavish fiestas and celebrations, the largest ones being August and October when the whole village partys day and night. There is a large excellent swimming pool open in the Summer months, and a nightclub on the edge of the village although it is a very peaceful, traditional village with a warm welcome.Written by: Jayne Greatbatch
