Over 40,000 visitors to Almuñécar Aquarium |

Wednesday, 31 December 2008 |
The controversial Almuñécar Aquarium will end 2008 with a breathtaking total of more than 40,000 visitors since its opening in July, with hopes that 2009 will top this number.
Most visitors have been recorded as coming from Granada and throughout
Andalusia, although there has been a growing number of German, French
and English visitors. The foreign contingent have obviously been
affected by the world economy, as well as the change in currency
strength in the case of the British.
Major promotional campaign
From Christmas onwards, the Catalan management company Bluedisplays SL has focused heavily on a publicity campaign aimed at the Easter tourist market, not forgetting the summer tourists. With more than 200 varieties of marine species, numbering some 3500 aquatic examples of fish and invertebrates within 18 huge tanks, it’s no wonder that the Aquarium provides a unique learning environment within Almuñécar .
